The Center for Innovative, Teaching, Research and Learning (CITRAL)

Looking to strengthen your teaching practice? The Center for Innovative, Teaching, Research and Learning (CITRAL) brings together research, innovation, and collaboration to support inclusive and equitable teaching and learning across campus. A partnership between the Office of Undergraduate Education and the UCSB Library, CITRAL is a resource for faculty committed to making their classrooms work for every student.

The Pedagogy Lab

The Pedagogy Lab is a justice-oriented higher education nonprofit advancing speculative, open, and accessible pedagogy. The Lab creates public-facing learning resources, supports educators and scholars in developing new teaching tools, and builds collaborative projects that make humanities knowledge more usable and engaging. Its work is grounded in Black, brown, queer, feminist, and decolonial intellectual traditions.

Funded by the Hewlett Foundation and in collaboration with Feminist Futures, the Lab is a resource for educators committed to reimagining what the classroom can be.

Teaching Professor Network (TPN)

The Teaching Professor Network brings together UCSB's Teaching Professors to share best practices, resources, and a commitment to inclusive teaching excellence. In 2025-26, the group has been developing a teaching statement template in coordination with Academic Personnel to help professors demonstrate teaching excellence campus-wide.

All Teaching Professors are automatically invited in their first year. If you were missed or have questions, reach out to Vanessa Woods at vewoods@ucsb.edu or Lalo Gonzalez at laloglz@ucsb.edu.

Teaching Professors across the UC system can also connect through T3PN, a system-wide network with resources and a listserv.

Campus Engagement

Inclusive excellence is visible across campus and the Santa Barbara community, through speaker presentations, multidisciplinary arts, and thought provoking conversations.

UCSB Arts & Lectures is a campus partner whose programming reflects our shared commitment to justice, culture, and community.

Arts & Lectures brings thinkers, writers, and leaders to UCSB to explore the inequalities that shape our policies, institutions, and lives. Past speakers include Ibram X. Kendi, Roxane Gay, and Amanda Nguyen -  conversations that extend well beyond the lecture hall.

In partnership with the greater Santa Barbara community, Arts & Lectures presents ¡Viva el Arte de Santa Bárbara! - bringing the rich cultural heritage of Latin America to more than 15,000 students and community members across Santa Barbara County each year through free concerts, performances, and community events. Created in 2006 out of a commitment to arts access for all, Viva is a celebration that belongs to everyone.

The MultiCultural Center (MCC) is one of the most active gathering spaces on campus. From art exhibitions and film screenings to roundtable conversations about navigating STEM as a student of color, the MCC creates programming that is both intellectually serious and deeply communal. Check their events calendar to explore their events.
